Originally designed to paddle and catch waves easier, like a longboard. The Fat Panda has more volume, giving it a smooth, gliding feel.

 

From the beginning, it did all the things for a beginner or intermediate surfer. But then I was thinking how can I ­make this high-performance as well, still keeping it an easy board to surf. Coming out of hospital and being told I would never surf again created the Fat Panda, a board I refined a lot to be easy to surf with performance that would never hold you back.

 

Adding more curves allowed it to fit into a steeper wave, but retaining volume allowed it to keep the main key focus of glide and speed. I’ve kept a full rail as I found it did not take away performance. Underneath it has a flat concave under the front foot into a double concave starting in front of the fins. There’s been a lot of give and take to make a special all-round board. Check out the fat panda movie, it will show you what it can do.
